After a civil engineer completed plans, we hunted for a good local construction company that does foundation work. Ward Construction was highly recommended by several people. We were very pleased with the quality of the work and the excellent communication on scheduling and the process. We were told exactly what they were doing, and they did good work in a timely way. We needed a railing, and they built one that fits our house. We also wanted to meet city codes which it did. I am happy to recommend Ward Construction.

We recently purchased a 1940's home that had serious drainage problems. Water was pooling up in the crawlspace and garage during every rain leading to moisture issues throughout the house. They recommended a french drain system along the perimeter and sub-area of the house. It was a large project that required excavation of trenches in a cramped crawlspace and demo and re-pouring of concrete walkways around the house.
Despite rain water filling the trenches while they worked and an additional change order, they completed the work within the 2 1/2 weeks that were estimated. This is the most professional crew we’ve ever worked with. Art regularly communicated about progress updates; inspections, permits, and all paperwork were done promptly; and the work was done with a high degree of expertise. It’s quite evident that Art and his crew have extensive experience and are highly specialized.
After getting the bids for your job, I would strongly suggest speaking to references and doing the research to understand the scope of the proposed work. After having a very bad experience with a contractor on a much smaller and simpler job in our previous home, it definitely pays off to have professional competent experts for something as serious as structural work. We are extremely satisfied clients and would highly recommend Ward Construction.
Excellent and Highly Professional Work From Beginning to EndWard Construction did excellent work at my Oakland home — foundation repair and drainage work. It was a major project, taking five weeks. The crew arrived on time daily and proceeded to do very professional work each day. Like those in management, Art and Rick, the workers demonstrated competence and were very thorough, easily overcoming obstacles, such as tree roots and rock as they drilled, and did masterful work. I am completely satisfied.
Excellent WorkI just wanted to reach out and thank you again for the drainage installation and work you did at my house. I don't think we really got to test it until this last storm.
